This project was the renovation and remodeling of a home built in 1900. In the pictures above you see the start of demolition on the before and in the after you can see the mahogany wainscotting and custom woodwork milled on site. The home owner was very exacting in what she wanted. The theme was a period library. Behind the book shelves is the toilet with library book wallpaper. The vanity top which you can see the corner of was an antique dresser which we converted in to a vanity the original marble top was sent out to be mechined for the under mount bowel and faucet. The original mirror and were still out, the mirror was being re-silvered at the time of this picture. You can see more pictures of this room in the "Some of Our Work" page.
This is the start of the new fireplace surround on the Carr House in 2008
This surround is complete. The three tiles are of special interest. Carr House 2008
The Carr House. Built around 1930. BEFORE - The fireplace was painted brick. On the before picture you can see the start of work on this enjoyable project. What you see is - The wood mantel has been removed and the stepped brick is being removed. The home owner had a very efficient wood burning insert installed and pink marble prior to this project. As you can see I made sure that the stove and the slate hearth were protected. AFTER - The completed surround. The three tiles you see were a real find from Second Chance a salvage business in Baltimore. It is beleived that they were from around the 1920's. You can see more on this project on the "Some of Our Work" page. Click on "The Carr House"
This house built in 1920 is a Bungalow style was in basically it's original condition aside from paneling added in the living room. As you can see from the After picture an addition was added to the rear of the house. You canview more pictures of the project on the Some of Our Work page. Clik on "Evergreen".
Before - This house was built in 1922 and was a popular style through the 1940s and early 1950s. This style of house is a Bungalow with some craftsman and mission attributes.
This house was in pretty bad shape when we started back in September 2005.
After - What a difference. Not a lot done here except new front door, paint, restored the craftsman columns, porch windows and replaced damaged cedar shingles.
This is not the same angle as the after shot but you can see the bump out. This side if the house was in very bad shape. The sun had really done a number on the cedar shingle. We had to replaced about 75% of the shingles once we were finished.
As you can see from the before picture we removed the wall in a room and added three feet of additional space to what became the owners' office.
Does it look like it has always been there?
This is a view of back of the house before any work had started. It was pretty standard for this style house. But once we started the demo for the addition we found that this was actually a covered porch and the room you see was added later.
With the addition

Here you can see the addition with the 1st floor deck and balcony off the master suite on the second floor.
